End November to December Muay Thai Review

Utilizing the cross tapping methods from our Kali base, the mindset of a weapons practitioner during empty hand situations was enhanced.  Observing the modalities manifesting in our member's actions on a given stimulus produced fascinating results.  Muay Thai kickboxing will never be viewed the same.  To supplement this mindset, Krabi Krabong exercises were also implemented as the structure is similar.

Cross tapping and thrusting lines have been on the agenda for quite some time.  Additionally, projectile training has been better since getting more equipment to facilitate it.

November 9 - 18, 2009

Thursday, 19 November 2009 08:11

The nor'easter came and left the week of November 9 - 13.  Big floods preventing our training but this week has been different.  We concentrated on translating the stick and blade into empty hands training. After the previous evaluation challenge, everyone's Muay Thai was greatly enhanced by the fine intricacies that weapons training provides.  Pakal grip, or earth grip, gave the correlation on how to train our Jab to be faster and purposeful. Palisut drills (palit or palitpalit means to change) made way for discovering how to change the direction of linear attacks while palusut drills enabled techniques like gunting and different types of split entries.

With the Atienza seminar that recently passed, mass attack drills were incorporated then varied into 2 on 1, 3 on 1 all the way up to 10 on 1.  Analyzing, from the mass' prospective, natural organizing took place which created interesting challenges. We then took these natural organizing skills and varied the mass attack scenarios using team tactics in the form of 2 on 2, 2 on 3, 3 on 3, 3 on 4, etc.  Awareness training and negotiating the mass was definitely fun and realistic.

Lastly, projectile training using the training rig to improvised objects has been an effective exercise in opening the door to another set of infinite drills.  Projectile descriptions and visuals were demonstrated as being a rock, glass bottle, ash tray, billiard ball or any available item used for throwing. This was then used in our Sayoc training group as the projectile form of the first template as shown in the 3 of 9 DVD.
