Q1. I'm not sure if I'm in the right shape or experience level to begin. How can I get started?

Everyone of all shapes and sizes, athletic or non-athletic, and various skill levels attend in our class environment. Each lesson is presented in a way that is easy for a beginner and challenging for the advanced. In the perspective of, let's say an onion, each layer is explained and practiced. This type of education in the art can enable anyone to find what suites their attributes and approach to a given situation.  On our Appointment Scheduler here online, you are able to setup your FREE trial week with us. This gives you the chance to see first hand what we teach and how we deliver the material. It also helps introduce you to the school and everyone that participates.

Q2. How does the trial period work?

First, a private lesson is held which is a one on one time with an I.M.P.A.C.T. instructor. In this private lesson, an introduction to the systems are taught in two phases. The first phase is in the weapon which is followed by the empty hand phase.  The weapon is presented with a brief history and how it transformed into what we see today.  The empty hand phase is a direct translation of the weapon into the Muay Thai Kickboxing system. Since Muay Thai's predecessor is Krabri Krabong, the weapon perspective melds into this structure seamlessly.

After the one on one session is complete, attending a group class would be the next class to participate in. If the need for further privates is required, this can be arranged at no additional cost.  The trial period expires after 2 full weeks allowing you to have enough experience to decide and join our team.

Q3. I used to train somewhere else. Do I have to start all the way over and take the trial class?

Not at all, however, the first private one on one is important to attend. This will allow a proper introduction as a new member so that any preconceptions can be ironed out. It is the goal of our organization to be a single unit and family. Just as we are individuals, we can have our preferences but we cannot forget how to work as a team and bring strong attributes to the table.

Q4. Do you have a ranking system?

Traditionally, the Filipino Martial Arts did not have a ranking system. Skill and expertise were defined by the time that is commited to training and learning.  We do, however, acknowledge that there are milestones in self improvement and the importance of being able to see them.  Periodically, we do have an evaluation that tests and challenges our members. Through these evaluations, the rest of the family can officially see real progress and growth.  Each year of training is thought of as attending a year of college and a color is designated which is worn as a colored stripe on the stick.  Each rank is as follows:

  1. White:  First year student
  2. Yellow:  Second year student
  3. Blue:  Third year student
  4. Red:  Fourth year student
  5. Black:  Graduate

Q5. I am a prior member of I.M.P.A.C.T. and have been away for some time. I want to train, but not confident that I can pick up where I left off.  What can I do?

We are always welcoming back anyone that has been away and will offer anyone the chance to catch up.  Private sessions can be setup so that you can find yourself back in our group classes. The first private lesson is free. The second private lesson is $20 and additional privates are on case by case basis.  We're here to do as much as we can to welcome you back.
