Always looking to help the community and to give back what the martial arts has given to us, we held a Muay Thai Charity Seminar for local hospital, Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD). CHKD has helped countless families and their children; Often times, the caring staff are usually dedicated volunteers donating their time to help. So, when Guro Ervin had a chance to brainstorm with Ajarn Bryan Dobler of Double Dose this summer about what they could do to help CHKD, the Muay Thai Charity Seminar was born. It was such an honor and pleasure to have Ajarn Bryan train with us and help us raise money for an amazing organization that is special to both IMPACT and Ajarn Bryan.
For two days, Ajarn Bryan taught Muay Thai as well as Krabi Krabong and Muay Boran, the precursors to modern Muay Thai. Students from various age ranges, rankings, and disciplines as well as different families (siblings, parents and children) and those from our Thai Boxing Association family came together to train the weapons system of Krabi Krabong, elements of Muay Boran, and get a fresh perspective on Muay Thai.
Thanks to Ajarn Bryan and the generosity of our friends and family, we were able to raise over $2500, half way to our ambitious $5000 goal we set a few months back. Every bit helps and we are very excited to donate and give back to an organization that gives so much to our community. Special thank you to everyone who donated and trained with us to help support CHKD.
